takso,

May you worry about yourself and your own delusions of grandeur.
The Buddha himself does not try to found ethics on the ideas of kamma and rebirth, but uses a purely naturalistic type of moral reasoning that does not presuppose personal survival or the working of kamma. -Bhikkhu Bodhi

Q8 Why anything? Why existence? Why karma? Why rebirth? Why any of it at all? Why something, why not nothing?

A8 True indeed, there can be no clear answers to it.

But if we could analyse and unwind to basic condition on all happenings and activities in the fully occupied realm of existence, we could see there only appear 3 basic and independent elements i.e. Space, Force & Substance.

To answer these questions, perhaps, we need to look into the circumstances of "Balance vs Imbalance".

We could mention that all happenings and activities in the realm of existence arised from the cycle influence of balance and imbalance phenomena. The 3 basic elements interacted and un-interacted with each other because of these duality circumstances.

And absolute emptying of all these basic elements and phenomena would mean Nirvana, as what Buddha taught.

This question has followed me for some years. I have not even the beginnings of an answer.

Now, let us take an illustration on Cancer cell in human body system. Supposedly, there exists “Cancer” elements in human body system and when circumstance is in balance (conducive condition), the same elements would interact with each other to form active Cancer cells. Subsequently, the human body system would be overwhelmed and thus triggering pains or suffering in both mental and physical sense.

On the other hands, when the same human body system underwent treatment such as chemotherapy, the Cancer cells would be broken down and thus the same elements would un-interact from each other in imbalance circumstance (non-conducive condition).

In other words, the cycle of Cancer occurrence would prolong until the entire “Cancer” elements have been cleared out from human body system – thus no more subsequent mental and physical pains or sufferings.

Therefore, let us start practising the philosophy of EMPTINESS every second, minute, hour........

Q9 Time travel - Possible?
A9 Is it possible for someone to do a time travel to change on his or her destiny?

Yes, it is plausible but with conditions.

Generally, Time is defined as a non-spatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future. (Source : American Heritage Dictionary)

In other words, past thoughts or actions would determine the present conditions; whereas, present thoughts or actions would determine the future conditions.

Whatever things or events happening now are the consequences of past events taken place. Like a saying, “I shall Reap for what I Sow”.

When one has a chance to a do time travel it does not literally mean that one could do this; do that; undo this and that at whim and fancy. No, there can be no reshuffling of happenings. It is just like a saying, “Seeing with No Touching.”

In other words, one can do a time travel to the past or future condition from the present condition but has no influence on it. Then, one may ask since everything has been pre-determined or destined, what is there left for a change? Frankly speaking, while one can’t change the past condition, adjustment can still be done to the present condition to reduce the impact on the future condition.

One may have heard that some trained individuals or high ranking monks could relate future events while sustaining their physical form in the present phenomena by doing time travelling in the same plane of existence. This is what we commonly known it as future visions or de-ja vu experiences and it could save lives.

Let us take an illustration of a forest at Mountain Island surrounded by a sea or ocean. Supposedly, Person A inhabits on lower ground within a dense forest and Person B inhabits on top of the mountain far-off from the dense forest.

On one fine day, there was an underwater earthquake miles and miles away from the island. Both Person A and B could not feel anything on the earthquakes.

But the earthquakes have set off Tsunami and it was fast approaching the Mountain Island. Still both Person A and Person B continued with their respective daily activities with no inkling of the Tsunami approaching them.

But being positioned at the top of mountain, Person B has an added advantage. He could see the Tsunami from far distance and fast approaching the Mountain Island as compared with Person A who could see nothing but trees surrounding.

Person B has estimated the Tsunami would hit the island in 10 hours time and immediately alerted Person A who still has no idea about the imminent danger.

At the end of the day, we could conclude that underwater earthquakes is equated to Past Condition; Person A and B is equated to Present Condition and Tsunami is equated to Future Condition.

So, can Person B prevent the Tsunami from hitting the Mountain Island? The answer is a Negative. But can Person B make adjustment on the impact caused by the Tsunami? The answer is a Yea.

In addition, one could also do a time travel to the other world of existence and return to relate his/her unique experiences. Let us take an instance on the Buddha’s experience on achieving Nibbanic state of existence while still sustaining in the Samsara world.

Literally, time is absent on Nibbana and all elements (Energy, Matter & Space) are practically “frozen”. When one does a time travel to the platform of Nibbana, one could literally glance at the platform of Samsara all events passing one after another from the present condition to past condition until the beginning of events. It is just like the vision from a stationed podium on a moving train locomotive and coaches.

Therefore, let us now cherish the past, live the present, and future would take care of itself.
