Halli buddhis,
as i read Pali-Kanon i thought about of all the numbers they zsed there. But, there is no strenth
in numbers. The only thing to do is the eightfold path as strong as you are able to.
This will lead you to the 4 goals of Bddhism

The number 108 predates Buddhism. The reason why the theme of 108 continues in Buddhism is basically it was a convenient assimilation tool from Hinduism, where numerology, astrology, and so on were plentiful. And as we all know, Buddhism originated from India, where Hinduism originated as well. So it was a cultural thingy, no mysticism there.

The later Mahayanist, and especially the Vajrayanist, movements might have incorporated it even more through the incorporation of rituals and tantra. Still, there is not much mysticism, because they are used as a convenient mnemonic.

the most imortant number in buddhist teaching is the 8 fold path.
Why spend time counting when there are more important things to do.!

indeed there are impotant numbers, but i do see in a quite diferent way:
8 fold pat, 4 noble truths, 5 Hindrances, 4 goals to be reached: Listener to the message,
2. Being born the last tim 3. Never reincarnate ana mor 4. Holyness.
If you´ll meditate the content of thesse numbers it will be mighty good for you.
